Courses in Canada
| Just 40 minutes east of Winnipeg
the Links at Quarry Oaks is truly a spectacular
7009 yard links style layout reminiscent of the
best Scottish designs. Enormous sand bunkers,
ruggedly maintained roughs and 22 acres of lakes
await the adventurous golfer. There is no shortage
of signature holes at Quarry Oaks. Many players
will enjoy the challenge of the par three island
green on 14, or the par four dog-leg right over
water on 9. |
 |
| The huge waste
bunkers and lake guarding the green on the par
four 10th demand that the golfer consider carefully
before making both tee and approach shots as does
the par three 17th with its snake and pot bunkers.
In essence, Quarry Oaks is a target golf course,
challenging but fair, demanding as much from the
mind and heart as from the body. |

Clear Lake
Golf Course Golf
Digest Ratings: Places to Play - 4 Stars
Golf Course Ranking Magazine: Top 30 Golf Resorts in
Canada A 3 hour
drive west of Winnipeg, and located in magnificent Riding
Mountain National Park, Clear Lake remains one of the
most unique and beautiful golf courses in the province.
Formerly known as the Wasagaming Course its original
9 holes were designed by Stanley Thompson. The newer
9 copy the Thompson style, and so all 18 holes follow
the natural lay of the land yielding dramatically undulating
fairways that are tightly defined by the forest of Riding
Mountain. The 6,070 yard layout roams up and down hills
and over streams, providing some truly memorable golfing
situations. Of these, the most frequently recalled is
the spectacular 17th. Starting high on a hill, this
short 126 yard par three drops 50 feet to the green.

Falcon Lake

Score Magazine: Top 3 Best Value Public Courses in Canada
Golf Course Ranking Magazine: Top 50 Public Courses
in Canada
A pleasant one and a half hour drive east of Winnipeg,
in beautiful Whiteshell Provincial Park, Falcon Lake
is considered by many to be one of the premier courses
in the province. All fairways at the 6,964 yard Falcon
Lake course are lined by thick forest, making them appear
narrower than their average width would indicate. Falcon
Creek, winding through the centre of the course is a
water hazard on 1/2 of the holes on the course. The
creek widens at one point and forms a small lake over
which the golfers play on the 12th. From its elevated
tee box this hole looks out over the lake towards the
green, providing a beautiful view and making it Falcon's
signature hole.

Two and a half hours north of Winnipeg on Lake Winnipeg,
Hecla qualifies as one of Manitoba's true hidden treasures.
Hecla Island has 18 Championship calibre golf holes
set amidst the wild beauty of Hecla Provincial Park,
a summer nesting area for an estimated 50,000 waterfowl.
The 6678 yard golf course is part of Gull Harbour Resort
and Conference Centre, a full service resort, making
Hecla an ideal destination for a golfing holiday. Twelve
of the course's 18 holes feature views of majestic Lake
Winnipeg- one of the world's largest fresh water lakes.
Mature elm, ash, birch and spruce trees line the course.
Blessed with a generous supply of large sand bunkers
and natural water hazards, Hecla challenges golfers
of all skill levels. Borrowing on local history Hecla
has christianed each hole with an Icelandic name in
honour of the European pioneers who settled on the island
in the 1880's. It is an added touch that compliments
nicely the distinctive atmosphere of this reclusive
golf course.
