Don Finkbeiner of the Heartland International Travel & Tours Group Division has been organizing European tours for groups for more than 25 years. A large number have been student educational tours. It goes without saying that a tour to Europe provides an enlightening, cultural experience for all students and teachers. Some examples of tours are as follows. FRANCE, ITALY, SWITZERLAND - LEADER - RENEE KAPLAN

Sun. Mar. 29 - Departure
You depart Winnipeg on Air Canada flight #194 at 3:00 pm and arrive in Toronto at 6:18 pm. In Toronto you transfer to Air Canada flight # 880 departing at 8:20 pm for your overseas flight to Paris.
Mon. Mar. 30 - Paris, France
You arrive at Paris' Charles de Gaulle at 10:35 am in the morning. After clearing customs and claiming your luggage you will be met by your tour escort, Mr. Timo Stuck and driver Mr. Bernd Kruel and taken to your private bus. From the airport you transfer to your downtown Paris hotel. At 2:00 pm in the afternoon you are taken on a guided sightseeing tour of Paris; Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, the Arc de Triomphe and ending at the Eiffel Tower. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel Comfort Primevere.

Tues. Mar. 31 - Paris, France
At 9:00 am in the morning you depart Paris for a guided tour of the magnificent Louis XIV Chateau of Versailles style gardens to enjoy the pavilions and fountains, the Grand and Petit Trianon. Later in the afternoon you return to Paris. At 8:00 pm in the evening you are taken on a wonderful Bateau Mouche tour. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Comfort Primevere.

Wed. Apr. 01 - Paris, France
Today is a free day to explore more of this exciting city on your own. Perhaps a visit to the Louvre, the Centre Georges Pompidou or stroll through the Quartier Latin. Overnight is again at the Hotel Comfort Primevere.

Thurs. Apr 02 - Nice, France
This morning you depart Paris and travel south through the beautiful French countryside. You continue through the Bourgogne and Rhone-Loire regions to Provence, the Cote d' Azur and the city of Nice. Overnight at the Quality Hotel Nice.
Fri. Apr. 03 - Nice, France
In the morning you will depart on a day tour of Nice and Monaco. The Principality of Monaco, with an area about the size of New York's Central Park, is famous because of its casino. The tour includes a stop at a tropical garden, which is suspended from a mountainous rock overlooking the sea, plus the Prince's palace, which provides a fine view of the harbor. The Nice tour provides an opportunity to see the beautiful Promenade des Anglais, the flower market and the streets lined with picturesque old houses. Later you return to the Quality Hotel Nice.

Sat. Apr. 04 - Nice, France
Today you are taken on a tour of the town of Eze and also the famous BIOT glass making factory and the Grasse Perfumerie. Later in the afternoon you return to overnight at the Quality Hotel Nice.
Sun. Apr. 05 - Florence, Italy
Today you depart Nice and travel along the beautiful Mediterranean coastline, passing the Italian Riviera, the port of Genova and continuing on to the famous city of Pisa. In Pisa you visit the Piazza del Duomo with the 13th century Santa Chaira hospital, the Pisan Romanesque style Duomo and the magnificent Leaning Tower. After the tour you continue to the city of Florence. Overnight is at the Hotel Universo in Florence.
Mon. Apr. 06 - Venice, Italy
In the morning you are taken on a guided Florence sightseeing tour; the Piazza del Duomo with its Cathedral and Cathedral Museum, plus the Piazza della Signoria and the Palazzo(Palace) Vecchio. In the afternoon you depart for a visit to the beautiful medieval hilltop village of San Gimignano. From here you continue northeast to the great city of Venice. Overnight at the Hotel Union in Venice.
Tues. Apr. 07 - Venice, Italy
In the morning you are taken on a guided walking sightseeing tour of this unique city, the Piazza San Marco, Basilica San Marco, the Grand Canal, Rialto Bridge and the Gallerie Dell' Accademia. The afternoon is free to shop or visit more of Venice on your own. Overnight at the Hotel Union .

Wed. Apr. 08 - Lucerne, Switzerland
This morning you depart Venice and travel through northwest Italy and cross the border into Switzerland. You continue to the picturesque city of Lucerne. Overnight is at the Hotel Broadway in Lucerne.
Thurs. Apr. 09 - Lucerne, Switzerland
Today you are taken on a guided city sightseeing tour, the Altes Rathaus (old town hall), Kornmarkt (grain market), Hirschenplatz (Stag Square), Weinmarkt (wine market), and the old covered bridges, Spreuerbrucke and Kapellbrucke. The afternoon is free to visit more of Lucerne on your own. Overnight at the Hotel Broadway.
Fri. Apr. 10 - Return
In the morning you transfer to the Zurich airport and depart on Air Canada flight # 879 at 12:50 pm. This overseas flight arrives in Toronto at 3:45 pm. In Toronto you clear passport control, claim your luggage and clear customs. You then connect to Air Canada flight # 195 departing at 5:05 pm and arrive in Winnipeg at 6:32 pm.

  • 11 nights in 2 star tourist class hotels, 2 - 4 persons per room with private facilities breakfast and dinner daily

You depart Winnipeg on Air Canada flight # 194 at 3:00 pm and arrive in Toronto at 6:18 pm. In Toronto you connect to Air Canada flight # 880 departing at 8:20 pm for your overnight flight to Paris.
Sat. March 20 - Paris
You arrive in Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport at 9:35 am. After claiming your luggage and clearing customs you are met by your tour escort Mrs. Kerstin Wegen and taken to your private bus. From the airport you are transferred to the Hotel Royal Naravin in downtown Paris.

At 2:00 pm in the afternoon you are taken on a Paris sightseeing orientation tour: the Hotel de Ville, Notre Dame, the Musee du Louvre, the Place de la Concorde, the Champs-Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe, Camp de Mars, the Invalides and ending at the Eiffel Tower. At 5:00 pm you transfer back to the hotel. Dinner is at 6:00 pm at Le Bistro near the hotel. Overnight at the Hotel Royal Naravin.
Sun. March 21 - Versailles - Paris
The early morning is free then at 11:30 am you depart for the Chateau Versailles. You will be taken on a guided tour of this magnificent palace of Louis XIV. At 4:00 pm in the afternoon you return by bus to Paris. At 6:00 pm you are taken to the Restaurant Pantheon in the Latin Quarter for dinner. After dinner you are transported back to the Royal Naravin for your overnight.
Mon. March 22 - Paris
At 9:00 am this morning you transfer by bus to the Louvre. All of the morning will be spent touring this museum. At 1:00 pm you have time for lunch then you are transferred to the Pyramide for a visit. Later its on to Notre Dame for a guided tour. At 5:00 pm you are transported back to the Royal Naravin then at 6:00pm you have dinner at the nearby Le Bistro. After dinner you are transferred for an evening Bateau Mouche tour commencing at 8:00 pm. Following the tour, about 10:00 pm, you are returned by bus to the Royal Naravin.
Tues. March 23 - Paris - overnight train to Madrid
Today is a free day to shop or visit more of Paris on your own. At 4:30 pm you have an early dinner at Le Bistro then at 6:15pm you are transferred by bus to the Austerlitz train station. Train # 409 departs at 7:47 pm on your overnight journey to Madrid . It will be 2nd class with couchette.
Wed. March 24 - Madrid
You arrive at the Madrid station at 8:58 am. From the station you are transferred by private bus to the Hotel Londres in downtown Madrid. The remainder of the day is free. Dinner and overnight is at the Hotel Londres.
Thurs. March 25 - Madrid
At 10:00 am in the morning you are taken on a guided walking tour of Old Madrid : Palacio Real, Plaza de los Toros, the Gran Via, Plaza de Espana, the Casa de Campo Park, Plaza de Oriente, Plaza Mayor and the Puerto del Sol. At 11:30 am a bus will take you on a continuing tour of Madrid. The tour will end at the Parque del Retiro. At 2:00 pm you are transferred back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel Londres.
Fri. March 26 - Madrid
This morning at 10:00 am you are transferred by bus to the Placio Real where you are taken on a guided tour. After the tour you are taken back to the hotel then at 4:00 pm you are transferred for a guided tour of the Prado Museum. Later you return to the hotel. At 8:00 pm you walk to a nearby Taverna, the Torres Bermejas, for dinner and a Flamenco show. Following the show you return to the Hotel Londres for your overnight.
Sat. March 27 - Toledo - Madrid
At 9:00 am you depart for a full day bus tour to Toledo with a guided sightseeing orientation tour: the Cathedral, the house and museum of El Greco, the church of Santo Tome which houses El Greco's most famous masterpiece " Burial of the Count of Orgaz" and the Museo de Santa Cruz. There will be some free time in the afternoon. In the late afternoon you return to Madrid for dinner and overnight at the Hotel Londres.
Sun. March 28 - Return
At 9:45 am you transfer to Madrid airport where you depart on Lufthansa flight # 4353 at 12:45 pm for Frankfurt. You arrive in Frankfurt at 3:15 pm and transfer to Air Canada flight # 9105 departing at 5:00 pm for your overseas flight to Toronto. You arrive in Toronto at 6:20 pm and clear Canadian Customs. Please see the "I Declare" brochure for duty free allowances. You then depart Toronto on Air Canada flight # 197 at 9:00 pm and arrive in Winnipeg at 10:34 pm.
