Whyte Alive
(Teenager
program – 8 hours)
Winnipeg's
award-winning nature center showcasing the 70 acre, 40-head
Bison Prairie exhibit, hiking trails with a bison viewing
mound, bird feeding station, floating boardwalks and waterfowl
in their native pond
habitats. All water-based activities are supervised by certified
lifeguards and/or experienced canoe/kayak instructors. All
guests will be supplied with and must wear a personal floatation
device when they are participating in water activities.
We will start with a short hike to the Field Station. Enjoy
the thrill of paddling a kayak on the
lake. We will be taught and get to practice several methods
of constructing and lighting fires and
construct a simple survival shelter called a lean-to. Take
aim at the archery range and see if you
can hit the bullseye using a bow and arrow. A hot dog or
hamburger BBQ lunch from the Buffalo Stone
Café will be provided between the activities. Become
active parts of the food web as we play a game called Predator
and Prey over a large area in their forest.

(Pre-teen
program – 8 hours)
Winnipeg's
award-winning nature center showcasing
the 70 acre, 40-head Bison Prairie exhibit, hiking trails
with a bison viewing mound, bird feeding station, floating
boardwalks and waterfowl in their native pond habitats.
All water based activities are supervised by certified
lifeguards and/or experienced canoe/kayak instructors.
All children will be supplied with and must wear a personal
floatation device when they are participating in water
activities. We begin with a short hike to
the Field Station. We will participate in the experience
of powering the centre's 15 seat voyageur canoes
across the lake. What tiny creatures lurk in
the depths of the swamp? Find out about the diversity
of life under the water with a dipnetting
hike. We will leave time to construct a craft
such as pioneer candles or nature picture frames.
The whole group will participate in an exciting game of
capture the flag. A morning and afternoon snack as well
as lunch will be provided at the centre in the Buffalo
Stone Café.

Museum/Planetarium/Science Gallery
(4
hours)
The
Manitoba Museum hosts eight interpretive
galleries c apturing
moments in time across Manitoba's landscape. The Hudson's
Bay Company, the world's oldest corporation, has donated
a collection of over 10,000 artifacts and written documentation
for the museum's new Hudson's Bay Gallery. The Planetarium
is a unique theatre offering shows that explore
the night sky and examine facts and fallacies of space
and science. Down the hall to Touch the Universe, a hands-on
science gallery offering more than 100 interactive exhibits.

An
indoor climbing facility for all ages and levels. Th is
session will allow participants to get a taste for climbing.
The staff takes care of all the safety components, allowing
the students to simply enjoy climbing. During the session
the ratio of climbers to staff is 3 or 4 to 1.
All participants will be taught how to put
on their harness and tie their own safety knots. Throughout
the session participants will tie their own knots (all
knots will be double checked by the staff of course).
Wear shorts or sweatpants, T-shirt or sweatshirt and
runners.

Thunder
Rapids Fun Park/ Vertical Adventures
(Teenager
program – 8 hours)
This
morning we head to Thunder Rapids Fun Park. Following
a tour of the Park its time
to check out the rides and games. Everyone has a
choice of 2 rides on the Thunder Karts, Indy Karts
or Water Gun Bumper Boat Ride. Later have a game
of miniature golf and then test
your hitting skills with 10 pitches in the batting
cages. After lunch we will head to Vertical Adventures,
an indoor climbing facility for
all ages and levels. The session will allow participants
to get a taste for climbing. The staff takes care
of all the safety components, allowing the students
to simply enjoy climbing. During the session the
ratio of climbers to staff is 3 or 4 to 1. All participants

is an opportunity to go 5 pin bowling
at Winnipeg's Uptown Bowling lanes. For the group
there would be 5 lanes and you can bowl for 2 hours.
